Sound Dogs Toronto was founded in 1991 as a 2-person operation and is currently one of Canada's busiest and most successful independent sound editing and design facilities. We work primarily in the feature film and television mediums for local, U.S. and U.K. based studios and producers.
Our client list includes Paramount Pictures, Universal, Miramax and virtually every major North American television broadcaster. Upon completion of principal photography and usually during the picture editing stage, we are contracted by a project's representative (usually a Producer or Post Production Executive) to complete the sound portion of the Post Production process. This includes evaluation and polishing of recorded location sound, re-recording and editing of problematic location dialogue, creation and addition of special sound effects, editing and placement of music tracks and supervising a mix-down of all of these elements toward a finished soundtrack. These tasks are all performed by a talented group of "in house" freelance Sound Editors, Designers and Assistants using powerful and versatile non-linear digital editing hardware and software.
We also rely heavily upon a custom-made Sound Effects library comprised of tens of thousands of sounds recorded or created by our people and which surpasses in size and quality probably any other Sound Effects library out there. Several of these FX files are available for purchase online via our American "cousin" sounddogs.com. We are located at 1159 Dundas Street East in the heart of Toronto's Film district and maintain a healthy and cooperative working partnership with our neighbor Post City Sound, Canada’s newest and most versatile audio post-production facility.
With our recent move and affiliation with Post City Sound we have expanded our sound mixing operations to service larger format dramas and documentaries and utilize our studio for ADR and voice-over recordings. We have also recently broken some ground in the foreign versioning and virtual gaming markets.
